From b8cc9ee66dce34de145e749edc04620a84cbc6e4 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: JP Hastings-Spital Date: Thu, 20 Jun 2024 13:40:54 +0100 Subject: [PATCH] Remove leading newlines MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit This standardises all my markdown files to have no leading newline after the `---` that ends the frontmatter. This makes display on Gemini (in which newlines matter) much more consistent! I can't spot any errors with the regex I used here, but there may be one or two articles that change shape — hopefully I can spot them and fix them! --- content/LICENSE.md | 1 - content/bookmarks/_index.md | 1 - This blog hasn't had much of a need for community (there's such an ecclectic mix of stuff here that people stumble upon it rather than frequent it) but as I've been building in tools like [webmentions](https://indieweb.org/Webmention), and pulling comments from other sites (like [on this post](/posts/chef-gpt/#interactions)), I've noticed the absence of an easy "I appreciate this" mechanism for passers-through. Yesterday I built a clap button, the one you can see below this paragraph, and on every page at the bottom of the post (though sometimes its a heart instead of a clap, for aesthetic reasons). If you click it it lets me know you appreciate my post, and keeps track of how many times that's happened (you can press it more than once if you really like something!) diff --git a/content/posts/git-download-subpath/index.md b/content/posts/git-download-subpath/index.md index 281cc424..bcacc865 100644 --- a/content/posts/git-download-subpath/index.md +++ b/content/posts/git-download-subpath/index.md @@ -12,7 +12,6 @@ topics: syndications: - https://gist.github.com/jphastings/6560bb173399fc3a155913b33e5f0f0c --- - My blog has ~250MB of [photos](/photos) in it (as I [archived my Instagram here](/posts/archiving-instagram-posts/) — _a decade_ of photos) which means that every time I want some files from [my blog's repo](https://github.com/by-jp/www.byjp.me) I've needed to pull down all that data to get at the few files I want. All this is an extension of the human sharing processes that humans use in face-to-face communication, but I think there’s one facet which hasn’t quite made the jump to the internet yet. In person, assessing the believability of what you hear is intuitive, you might know the person and trust their opinions, or they could be a stranger and you’d be wary of what they have to say. Online, most communication is functionally anonymous, either because the other party is masking their identity, or because you’ve never met them and have no context for their existence despite knowing their (user)name.
